History

Bharata Mata School of Legal Studies managed by the Ernakulam – Angamaly diocese of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church was established in the year 2013. The college inauguration took place on the 9th of November 2013. The classes were first situated and kept at Nivedita till the present infrastructure came into existence. Major Archbishop Mar George Alencherry is the Patron of the college. Under the founding Director Father Varghese Kalaparambath, Dr. Joseph Vadakethala acted as the Principal. The college started with the single batch of 42 students in the BA. LLB stream.

The inauguration of the present building took place on January 17 2015. It was inaugurated by the then chief minister Mr. Oommen Chandy and was felicitated by minister Mr. K.M. Mani. The building is around 50,000 sq. ft. with all facilities needed for a law college such as Moot Court, Library, computer lab etc. During the year 2015 the first batch of the stream BBA.LLB was introduced. In 2016 an additional BBA.LLB batch and B.Com .LLB batch was sanctioned.

On January 18 2020, the newly constructed LLM block was inaugurated. Archbishop Mar Antony Kariyil, Mar Thomas Chakkiyath, Justice Kurien Joseph, Justice Pius C Kuriakose, Justice K Abraham Mathew along with many other dignitaries graced the function.
