“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.”
Oprah Winfrey
Mentoring is a vital aspect of personal and professional development. It involves a more experienced individual (the mentor) providing guidance, support and knowledge to a less experienced individual (the mentee). This relationship can be formal or informal and occurs in various settings, including educational institutions, workplaces and community organizations. It fosters skill development, career advancement and personal growth, while also providing invaluable networking opportunities.
Mentoring cell started functioning in academic year 2019-2020. At the initial stage the mentoring cell was able to give mentoring only to the first year students (2020-2025 batch). After that the cell started functioning in the full-fledged manner and was successful in mentoring the whole students of BSOLS from 2021 onwards. All the faculties were designated as mentors and training programmes were conducted from time to time to equip them with great mentoring skills.
A module has been added in DMS to simplify the mentoring process in the academic year 2023-24, which became an effective tool for mentors to keep the records of mentees in a confidential manner and do their mentoring in an effective way.
